OPENING DAY – Saturday, September 14, 2024
For those of you who are new to Oviedo Little League, Opening Day is a fun-filled day of family activities at King Street. The day starts early for everyone. Each team gathers on the girls’ softball field by 8:00am and will parade around the field down the first base side of the Major Field through home plate and out to the outfield. The parade of teams will begin at 8:30am.
Each team enters, and each player will be announced by name. Opening Day is one of the league’s fundraisers for the year and is geared toward all the children in our league and we encourage everyone to enjoy a family day full of fun and activities. The OLL Board has put a lot of time and effort into this event for you and your family’s enjoyment. Managers, please help to make sure your teams are lined up on the softball field so we can begin the parade on time.
After the team parade teams will be scheduled for scrimmages, we encourage all families to enjoy the day at the baseball field. There will be a basket raffle, bounce houses, food, vendors, and lots of other fun activities. Please remember the basket raffle and bounce houses are cash only for tickets.
PARKING ON OPENING DAY
There will be limited parking in the baseball parking lot. Most of the front parking will be reserved for Handicap Parking only. So, come early! The grassy areas behind the T-ball fields will be mowed and cleared to create more parking spaces. Also, let everyone know that parking will be available at Oviedo High School.
GIFT BASKET RAFFLE
Each team is required to provide a basket for the Gift Basket Raffle that will take place on opening Day. Please look for information from your manager or team parent regarding what type of donation they are looking for. On opening day, we will sell raffle tickets specifically for the gift baskets. Each gift basket will have its own specific raffle ticket, and we will only accept cash to purchase raffle tickets.
Manager and Team Parent please make sure your team basket is assembled, wrapped, and labeled (basket label must clearly state the team’s name, what is in the basket and the value) before turning it in. All basket donations are to be turned in the morning of Opening day. There will be a table in the grassy area near the concession stand that will set up for baskets. If you would like to drop off your basket prior to opening day, please reach out to Tatiana @ 407.617.7722 to set up a time and day.
FOOD
The concession stand will be open and will have breakfast items, BBQ pulled pork, Ribs, hamburgers, hot dogs, snacks and drinks.
If you would like to pre-purchase some BBQ food to take home, please email Edwin Wiggins at [email protected]. Below is the pricing, you will need to bring a cooler on opening day to store your pre-purchased items. All pre-purchased meat and sides must be picked up by 1pm on opening day.

PICTURES
Theme Street pictures will be on-site for individual and team pictures. Your team will be assigned a time to meet at the picture booth for your team picture. Individual pictures can be taken at any time.
OPENING DAY VOLUNTEERS
We are looking for any parents who would be willing to volunteer on opening day. If you could volunteer for a few hours on opening day, we would greatly appreciate all the help.
